My Chiropractic office started receiving notices by fax, mail, and even email about accepting a reduced payment in exchange for expedited processing. What are these? Do I have to accept a reduced price in order for the payer to process my Chiropractic claims?
You are receiving communications from a third-party that is usually not the patient’s direct plan/payer.
These companies are hired by payers to get providers to accept a reduced rate (allowed amount), though you do not have to accept the reduced pricing. Even though they indicate that there will be expedited payment for your Chiropractic services, this will not prevent payment from coming to your office in a prompt matter if you do not respond and/or don’t accept the reduction.
My recommendation is not to accept further reductions as there is no real added benefit in doing so. If you are working with a Chiropractic Billing Service, consult with them on how you can stop getting these communications.
